Quit Smoking

Quitting smoking is the most important step that smokers can take to improve the length and quality of their lives. At MESSA we care about our members’ health, quality of life, and the health of their family. We realize that quitting smoking is not easy, and to have the best chance of quitting and staying quit, you need to understand the challenges, what your options are, where to go for help and have adequate support from your health plan. MESSA can help. The prescription drug benefits included with your health plan provide coverage for the following smoking cessation drugs when prescribed by your physician as part of your “quit smoking” plan: Chantix, Nicotine Transdermal Patch (prescription form only), Nicotrol inhaler, Nicotrol nasal spray and Bupropion SR (generic for Zyban). Office visits or consultations with your physician for prescribing and monitoring these medications are also covered by MESSA Choices and Choices II plans.
