Get the care you need with MESSA’s virtual options
Starting Jan. 1, MESSA will partner with Teladoc Health, a telehealth service offering you access to U.S. board-certified or licensed providers for 24/7 urgent care, mental health care, virtual primary care and chronic care management programs.
All these services will be available at your fingertips on the Teladoc Health app and portal.
“Teladoc is an option for MESSA members looking for convenient, accessible health care,” said Karen Schulz, MESSA Member Services director. “Members will have access to a network of high-quality health care providers, ensuring they receive professional and reliable medical advice and treatment.”
Here are the services Teladoc will offer MESSA members:
- Teladoc Health 24/7 Care: Think of this as urgent care where you can visit a board-certified doctor for colds, sore throats, strep throat and other minor illnesses or injuries. No appointment is needed and the average wait time is 10 minutes.
- Teladoc Mental Health: Members can connect with a licensed therapist or U.S. board-certified psychiatrist to get treatment for mental health concerns, such as grief, anxiety, depression and more. These visits require an appointment. Evening and weekend appointments are available.
- Teladoc Virtual Primary Care: This new service allows members and covered dependents 18 years and older to visit with a U.S. board-certified Teladoc Health primary care provider from home. While it can take weeks or months to see a provider in person, this option reduces the average wait time to see a provider to less than a week. You’ll also receive a free digital blood pressure monitor before your visit.
- Teladoc Chronic Condition Management: Teladoc offers diabetes management, diabetes prevention and weight loss, and hypertension management programs for qualified members and dependents to help support these common conditions.
Members enrolled in the diabetes management program will receive a free blood glucose meter, unlimited test strips and lancets. You’ll receive a free smart scale if enrolled in the diabetes prevention and weight loss program. Members in the hypertension program receive a free blood pressure monitor. Additionally, those enrolled in one of the chronic care programs can enroll in myStrength, a resiliency program offering support for stress, depression, sleep issues and more.
How much will Teladoc Health visits cost?
Teladoc Health 24/7 Care visits are subject to a $65 charge before the deductible is met for all plans. For all other visit types, the amount can vary by provider and service type, just like with in-person appointments. Once you meet your deductible, you’ll pay the following set of copayments for visits and coinsurance for services:
- Teladoc 24/7 Care: $10 copay for Balance+ and Essentials by MESSA; $20 copay for Choices; and no copay for ABC plans, but coinsurance may apply.
- Teladoc Mental Health: $10 copay for Balance+ and Essentials by MESSA; $20 copay for Choices; and no copay for ABC plans, but coinsurance may apply.
- Teladoc Primary Care: $25 copay for Balance+ and Essentials by MESSA; $20 copay for Choices; and no copay for ABC plans, but coinsurance may apply.
- Teladoc Chronic Condition Management: These programs are free for qualifying MESSA members and covered dependents.
