New option for diabetic supplies may save you $$

MESSA members have a new option for obtaining diabetic testing supplies such as monitors, lancets and test strips.

Previously, testing supplies were covered by your MESSA medical plan and had to be obtained from a durable medical equipment supplier. Now, qualifying MESSA members have the option of getting these supplies from a pharmacy using your prescription plan.

Depending on the details of your medical or prescription plan, one option may cost you less out of pocket. If you would like to discuss these options and learn more about potential cost savings, contact MESSA’s Member Service Center at 800-336-0013.

Additionally, certain glucometers and continuous glucose monitors are now available at no cost when obtained at a pharmacy. Free devices include: Contour, Contour Next, Contour Next One, Contour Next EZ, Dexcom G5 receivers and transmitters, Dexcom G6 receivers and transmitters, OneTouch Verio Reflect, OneTouch Verio Flex and OneTouch Ultra 2.

A prescription from a health care provider is required, and your plan’s deductible, copayments or coinsurance apply.
