MESSA’s 2020 Worksite Wellness Conference will be a virtual affair, with MESSA Health Promotion Consultant Rhonda Jones leading a dynamic event via Zoom.
Registration is now open for this year’s conference, which is set to kick off at 9 a.m. on Oct. 9. The conference will feature interactive, thoughtful and insightful presentations focused on the three key elements of MESSA Wellness:
- Mindfulness
- Movement
- Nutrition
You will come away from the conference with a clear vision of what you need to bring balance and well-being into your daily life, as well as some helpful tools to make the vision a reality. Having these tools to turn to is especially important these days, amid the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. You’ll also get tips on how to start a virtual worksite wellness program to help stay motivated and balanced throughout the school year.
Special sessions include:
The 5 Whys: How a Business Model can Help Bring Personal Change
Speaker: Raquel Garzon, president of Revitalize Project
When it comes to prioritizing self-care, we often assume we fall short because we don’t have time or we lack discipline, but that’s not necessarily true. What you do reflects how you think. To change what you do, you must first change how you think, and that starts with answering the real question: WHY do you do what you do? To answer that, we’ll turn to the 5 Whys — a trusted business method used to discover and address the underlying root of a problem.
Getting a Good Night’s Sleep
Speaker: Brian Luke Seaward, expert in stress management, mind-body-spirit healing and corporate health promotion
Poor sleep quality translates into poor work habits, poor communication skills, performance deficits and compromised health. Digital toxicity only compounds poor sleep habits. Attendees will learn about the three categories of insomnia, the stress-prone behaviors that contribute to poor sleep quality and sleep hygiene, and suggestions to improve the quality of your sleep.
Mindfully Delicious
Speaker: Kristen Johnson Brogan, chief mindful officer for On Target Living
Kristen Johnson Brogan is bringing her signature program, Mindfully Delicious, to the MESSA Worksite Wellness Conference. This demonstration combines a mindful eating lesson and a dynamic cooking demo. To bring this experience to life, Kristen will be whipping up her famous banana ice cream and coconut oil kettle corn. Attendees will be able to follow along step by step or opt to watch it all come together and try it on their own later.
