Teladoc Health Virtual Primary Care available now

Visit primary care provider, develop care plan from comfort of your home

MESSA members and covered dependents can choose a virtual primary care provider using the Teladoc Health app, making appointments more convenient and accessible.

Teladoc Virtual Primary Care allows MESSA members 18 years and older to access U.S. board-certified Teladoc Health primary care providers and an entire virtual care team that includes a registered nurse and a certified medical assistant.

While virtually visiting with providers for minor illnesses, injuries or mental health needs is commonplace, primary care providers for members have been typically reserved for brick-and-mortar, in-person visits — until now.

“Having a primary care provider is essential for maintaining your overall health and well-being, and through Teladoc’s new virtual program, a member can access this important care when it works best for them,” said Karen Schulz, MESSA Member Services director. “Members will be able to access preventive care and regular check-ups and get help with potential health issues early when they are more easily treated.”

The first appointment for virtual primary care happens within five days of your request, while subsequent visits take place within one or two days. You’ll receive a free digital blood pressure monitor before your first visit, which usually lasts about an hour.

Like a brick-and-mortar provider, the virtual care team will work with you to develop a personalized care plan. The physician can write prescriptions, order labs and imaging, make referrals to network specialists, and coordinate in-person care if necessary. If you have follow-up questions or concerns, you have unlimited messaging to your virtual care team through the Teladoc app.
