Is your child up-to-date on vaccines?

Childhood vaccine rates in Michigan plunged during the pandemic, but it’s never too late to get your child back on schedule.

Vaccines are essential to protecting children’s health and development.

All MESSA health plans cover recommended childhood vaccinations at no cost to MESSA members. There are three ways to get your child immunized:

  1. Child immunizations are free when administered by an in-network health care provider.
  2. Immunizations are also free when administered by your local health department.
  3. Starting this year, children can be vaccinated at no cost at participating pharmacies.

According to state data released earlier this year, vaccinations among children ages 9 to 18 were down 35% compared to previous years, and vaccine rates for children from birth to age 8 were down 17%.

If your child is overdue for immunizations, now is the time to get them back on schedule.

The bottom line is vaccines keep children safe from preventable diseases and save lives.
