New 5-Tier Rx plan could save you $$

Coming in 2025: MESSA’s new 5-Tier Rx plan.

MESSA’s new prescription plan is exciting for MESSA members for a few reasons. (Yes, we just used the word “exciting” to describe a prescription plan.)

First, switching to 5-Tier Rx could save you up to 10% on the cost of your overall health plan premium. The details matter, and it depends on your current health plan and Rx plan combination, but roughly 70% of our members could see big savings.

Second, prescription costs in the new plan are broken down into copays for most medications and coinsurance for specialty medications, which makes it easy to budget your health care dollars. In fact, more than 90% of the prescriptions that members fill will have a flat-dollar copay of just $10 or less for a 34-day supply under this plan.

Third, 5-Tier Rx is available to combine with all three of our MESSA ABC health plans, as well as five Choices plans with varying deductibles. That means a huge portion of members will be able to pair 5-Tier Rx with their current plan. And it’s available with mandatory mail, which requires home delivery of your prescriptions by Optum Rx.

When paired with a Choices plan, there are many free preventive medications. Members with an ABC plan still have access to the extended list of free preventive medications.
